Obituary	R. JASPER COLBY R. Jasper Colby, 61, died unexpectedly at a Pittsfield hospital Sunday. He was born in Newport Nov. 4, 1910, the son of Ariel and Eliabeth Souther Colby. He was graduated from Newport High School and attended Husson College. He was a member of the Masonic Order having served as a master of the Meridian Spendor Lodge in Newport and he was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. He had worked as manager of the A and p store in Newport for 38 years and this past year has been employed by Bud's Red and White store. Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Hand Colby of Newport; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Sandra) Colbath, Marlboro, Mass.; and Mrs. Larry (Anita) Thurston, Ledyard, Conn.; a brother, Darrell Colby of Dexter; four grandchildren and one niece and one nephew. Funeral services will be held at the High St. Congregational Church Thursday at 2 p.m. Masonic services were held Wednesday at the Crosby-Neal Funeral Home in Newport.
