FRED L. HASELTINE Fred L. Haseltine, 90, of Ripley died at a Dexter Hospital Sunday following a long illness. He was born in Dexter April 9, 1881 the son of Leonard and Mary Mayo Haseltine and was married to the late Bertha Hoyt. He lived in Skowhegan and Hartland areas during the early years of his life and moved to Ripley 44 years ago. He was a former member of the Plymouth Odd Fellows Lodge in Dexter, was a past master of the Ripley Grange, as well as a member of the State Pomona Grange. He was a member of the Ripley United Church and was also a member of the official board of that church. He served as town treasurer and tax collector in Ripley for many years. He founded a greenhouse business some 50 years ago, which is still in operation here. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Nellie) Brasier, Mrs. Clyde (Aletha) Hemenway, both of Ripley, Mrs. Harry (Mary) Dore of Dexter and Mrs. Harold (Verna) Wentworth of Southington, Conn.; two sons, John Haseltine of Berkeley, Calif., and Linwood Haseltine of Ripley; two brothers, Theo Haseltine of Dexter and Clyde Haseltine of Millinocket; many grandchildren, and at least 35 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Ripley United Methodist Church.
