Obituary
CLYDE F. MOWER Clyde Fletcher Mower, 77, died May 11 at the Plummer Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Dexter, September 24, 1893, he was the son of William Carroll and Alice Fletcher Mower. He graduated from Dexter High School in 1912 and from the University of Maine, Orono with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1917 where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He retired in 1967 after 50 years as an inspector, first at the Fay and Scott Machine Shop and later the Fayscott-Landis Machine Corporation. Active in town affairs he was a selectman for six years. He end- a selectman for six years. He attended the First Univeralist Church. He was past High Priest of St. John's Chapter Royal Arch Masons; a member of Penobscot Masonic Lodge and Wassookeag Chapter OES. He was also a member of Plymouth Odd Fellows' Lodge and a 50 year member of Martha Washington Rebekah Lodge. Surviors are his wife, Attalena Atkins Mower and a brother Kenneth, both of Dexter; a niece, Mrs. Alice Jones of East Hampton, Conn,.; a nephew, Carroll Fletcher Mower of Plaistow, N.H.; several grand neices and nephews as well as cousins. Funeral services will be held at the Crosby Funeral Home Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Sterling of the First Universalist Church officiating. There will also be Masonic services. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
