Obituary
ALTON E. GOWER Alton E. Gower, 56, died March 2 in a Lowell, Mass., hospital. A former resident of Dexter, he was born Oct. 4, 1914, in St. Albans the son of Eldridge and Grace (Phinney) Gower. He had lived in North Chelmsford, Mass., for the past four Years. He attended St. Albans and Dexter schools. He was employed by the Fayscott-Landis Machine Corp of Dexter and was a carpenter in this area for many years. He was a former member of the Dexter Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Vernal; two daughters, Mrs. William (Ann) Efimoff, all of N. Chelmsford, and Mrs. Allen (Rita) Burton of Ohio; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eldridge Gower of St. Albans; two brothers, Leon E. of Bath and Earl of Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Eleanor) Tibbetts of Old Bridge, N.J., and Mrs. Elmer (Mary) Bowden of Corinna; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral mass will be Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Dexter, with the Rev. Lionel McKeone officiating. Spring burial will be in M. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Friends may call at the Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter, Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rosary will be said at the funeral home Thursday at 7 p.m.
