Obituary
DELPHIS HIGGINS Delphis J. Higgins, 76, died Oct. 21 at his home. He was born at Dexter Sept. 12, 1894, the son of Thomas and Elise (Poulins) Higgins. Higgins was employed for many years at the Dumbarton Woolen Mill and served as a sexton at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery for 15 years retiring three years ago. He graduated from Dexter High School, was a member of Poulliot Seavey American Legion and a 3rd degree member of Cardinal Mercier Council, Knights of Columbus. He was known for his wood carvings, especially those of birds, which he realistically produced as a hobby and business. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Eva (Mountain) Higgins of Dexter; one brother, Edmund of Sarnia, Ont.; one sister, Sister Mary Anita of Portland; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Anne's Church, Dexter with the Rev. Lionel J. McKeone officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Members of the Cardinal Mercier Council, K. of C. said prayers at the funeral home on Thursday evening.
