Obituary	DEXTER SOLDIER KILLED IN ENGLISH CHANNEL Mrs. Hazel G. Cote received a letter this week from Major General J. Ulio, Adjutant General of the War Department confirming a telegram received a few days ago informing her of the death of her husband, Pfc. Philip G. Cote, serving with the Infantry, who was previously reported Missing in Action December 25 in the European area. The letter said in part, "an official message has been received which states that he was killed in action in the English Channel on the date he was previously reported missing." Memorial services will be held Saturday morning, March 24, at 9 o'clock at St. Anne's Catholic church. Pfc. Cote was born July 27, 1920 in Dexter, the son, of Joseph T. and Cecile Clukey Cote, and he attended the Dexter-schools. On November 18, 1939 he was united in marriage with Hazel Godreau also also of Dexter and to them were born two sons, David and Douglas. Before enterlng the service April 29, 1944 he was employed at the Amos Abbott Company mill. He was also a registered barber. Pfc. Cote received his training at Camp Wheeler, Ga. And Camp Rucker, Ala. He left for overseas last November 14. Surviving are his wife and two sons, his parents; three brothers, Petty Officer Eugene Cote in Boston, Bradley Cote and Robert Cote of Dexter. Pfc. Cote was the nephew and namesake of Pvt. Philip Clukey of this town, who was killed in the battle of the Argonne in France in World War I.
