Obituary	MISS BERTHA M. LEIGHTON Miss Bertha M. Leighton, a former resident of Dexter, died at a Kalamazoo, Mich., hospital June 15, after a long period of failing health. She was born in Dexter on June 25, 1887, the daughter of Stanford M. and Laura (Haskell) Leighton. A graduate of Dexter High School and Boston University, Miss Leighton taught at Dexter High School, Boston University and Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. In Dexter, she was an incorporator of Plummer Memorial Hospital, a member of the Rebecca Weston Chapter, D.A.R., the Women's Literary Club, the Board of Directors of Plummer Memorial Hospital, and the Red Cross. Funeral services were held June 17, at the Truesdale Chapel in Kalamazoo. A graveside service was held Monday, June 22, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, the Rev. Norman C. Young officating.
