JAY GOULD Jay Gould, 68, died unexpectedly May 9 at his camp on lake Wassookeag in Dexter. He was born in Greenwood, Mass., Feb. 24, 1902, the son of Willis and Elizabeth (MacKaren) Gould. He came to Dexter 21 years ago from Fitchburg, Mass. He had been a stockbroker for many years for a firm in Massachusetts. He later was general manager and treasurer of the Goodnow Foundry Co. in Fitchburg. Gould was a member of the Fitchburg Unitarian Church, and a past president of the Dexter Fish and Game Association. For about four years he operated the Nan-Jaka Grocery Store on Railroad Ave. in Dexter. For the past 17 years he had been cost accountant at the Fayscott-Landis Machine Corp. in Dexter. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Eunice (Sawyer) Gould of Dexter; two daughters, Mrs. Dana (Jacquelyn) Treadwell of Veazie, and Mrs. Louis (Nancy Jayne) Clukey of Maryland; nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter, with the Rev. Philip Q. Mather officiating. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
