Obituary	HERBERT E. WOODARD Herbert E. Woodard, 87, died Tuesday afternoon at a Dover nursing home after a long illness. He was born in Bradford, Maine, December 31, 1881, the son of Simon and Jessie Leathers Woodard. He attended Higgins Classical Institute in Charleston. After working in woolen mills in Pittsfield and Newport, he came to Dexter where he worked for many years at the Dumbarton Woolen Mill and later at the Fay and Scott Machine Shop. He was a member of the First Free Baptist Church of Dexter of which he had been a Deacon for many years; and an honorary life member of the Dexter Fish and Game Association. He is survived by his widow, Grace Kelly Woodard, two sons by his first wife, Valentine White, Avon of Dexter and Harold of Levant; a sister Myrtle Russell in Massachusetts, a brother Ernest of Hampden; seven grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren Funeral services will be held at the First Free Baptist Church in Dexter at two o'clock Thursday.
