Obituary
ROBERT THOMPSON Robert Leroy Thompson, 53, of Wakeman, Ohio, and formerly of Dexter, died in the Plummer Memorial Hospital Friday. He was born in Dexter, Oct. 9, 1915. He served in the Navy during World War II on submarine duty. He attended the United Methodist Church of Dexter, was a member of the Order of Eagles in Elyria, Ohio. For many years he worked in Dexter woolen mills, but for the past 18 years he was a steam engineer at Oberlin College. He also was a wholesale importer and exporter. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Cora (Fisher) Cogan of Dexter; his widow, Mrs. Betty Thompson of Wakeman; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Provoznik of Wellington, O., and Mrs. Cheryl Chuha of Grafton, Ohio; three stepdaughters, Rebekah and Pamela, and Mrs. Judy Carmack of Ohio; four stepsons, Ronnie, Bruce, Chuck and Mark; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Homstead of Oberlin, Ohio and Mrs. Eleanor Batchelder of Dexter; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were held at the Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter, on Monday with the Rev. Philip Mather officiating. Burial was to be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
