Obituary
Almon R. Page, Jr. Killed In Crash Almon R. Page, Jr., of Cape Elizabeth and a native of Dexter, was killed Friday afternoon when his automobile left Route 7 in Corinna, about two and a half miles south of Dexter, uprooted five birch trees, went end for end knocked down several more trees, and then rolled over on its top. Page was a certified public accountant, and partner in the firm of MacDonald, Page, Stratford and Strout. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. H. Lewis Taylor of Dexter, Penobscot County Medical examiner. State Trooper Dean R. Jakins of Newport, investigating officer, said Page was alone in a 1968 sedan and traveling southerly on the highway when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and went off on the easterly side. The trooper indicated the car was equipped with seat belts, but Page was not using them. The body of the victim remained inside the auto. Assisting Jakins in the probe was State Police Sgt. Bennett Dunbar of Bucksport. Services were held Monday at the Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter, with the Rev. John EJ McNally Dexter First Universalist Church minister, officiating. Interment followed at Dexter's Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Page was born in Dexter, Jan. 9, 1922, son of Mrs. Katheryn (Smart) Page and the late A.R. Page, Sr. He attended Dexter schools and graduated from Northeastern Business School in Portland with a degree in accounting. A World War Two veteran serving in the United States Navy, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Phyllis Page of Cape Elizabeth; his mother of Dexter; a son David, of Westbrook; a daughter, Miss Mary Kay Page of New York City; two brothers, Samuel of Dexter and Rodney (Jake) of Rumford; a grandchild, aunts and several cousins.
