Rites Held For 'Pret' Richardson Preston H. Richardson, 65, died early Tuesday morning at a local hospital following a long illness. Born at Fort Fairfield, July 26, 1903 he was the son of Clement and Gladys Armstrong Richardson. He graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in Charleston and came to Dexter from Kenduskeag in 1924. For eight years he operated the Curtis Coal Company here and for 14 years was custodian of Dexter High School until ill health forced him to resign. He was a member of the Dexter Fire Department from 1941 until 1962 serving as chief of the department from 1948 until his retirement. He was a past member of the board of directors of the Maine Fire Chiefs' Association. He belonged to St. Anne's Catholic Church. Survivors are his widow Celena Ronco Richardson of Dexter; one son P. Jere Richardson; three daughters, Mrs. Vernie (Jane) Webber, Mrs. Joseph A. (Polly) Poulin, both of Dexter and Mrs. Scottie (Gloria) Rushing of Bergstrom AFB, Texas. His father, Clement Richardson of Little Neck, Long Island, N.Y. also survives as do one sister and one brother, Mrs. Martin (Pauline) Knorr of Little Neck, L.I., New York and Wilbert Richardson of West Stewartstown, N. H. There are 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral Mass was held at St. Anne's Catholic Church Thursday morning with the Rev. Norman Cormier officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
