Obituary	HORACE A. TOWARD Horace A. Toward was born in Dexter in 1851 the son of James and Olive Toward, and as a young man went to Skowhegan to work but soon went to Waterville to live. He was in the employ of the Maine Cental Railroad for forty-five years, commencing as a section hand and rising to road master, which position he held for over twenty years retiring from active service in 1917. He died at St. Petersburg, Florida, December 8, 1927. Mr. Toward was known everywhere as a man of sterling character and a large circle of friends regretted his passing. He was a charter member of the Skowhegan lodge of Odd Fellows, of Waterville Masonic lodge and other bodies, and an active member of the Methodist church.
