Obituary	MRS. VERNON JEWELL Mrs. Vernon (Bertha) Jewell, 81, died Monday in a local nursing home following a short illness. She was born in Cambridge on July 31, 1887, the daughter of Samuel and Annie (Watson) Sawyer. She graduated from normal school and was a teacher for many years. She was a 60-year member of Dexter Grange and a member of the United Methodist Church, and the WSCS of the church. Surviving are her husband of Dexter; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Folsom of Cambridge, Mrs. Fern Kenney of Unity and Mrs. Marguerite Carter of Portland; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Hildred Lawrence of Dexter; several nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter, with the Rev. Howard Benson officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in the spring.
