Obituary
W. RAY FANJOY W. Ray Fanjoy, 74, died Thursday morning at an Augusta nursing home following a long illness. He was born at North Amity, July 1, 1893, the son of William E. and Addie M. (Libby) Fanjoy. He moved to Dexter from Houlton about 50 years ago. A veteran of World War I, he was Sgt. of Company L, serving in the Second Maine Infantry with General John Pershing against the Mexican bandit, Pancho Villa. Under Col. Frank Hume, commander of the National Guard 103rd Regiment, 26th division, he served overseas. He was a member of Poulliot Seavey Post, American Legion and Penquis Barracks of Milo, and a member of Penobscot Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church of Dexter. He is survived by his widow, Dr. Nora B. Fanjoy; two sons, Murray D. of New Brunswick, H. Wilson of Dexter and one step-son, Reginald D. Call of Old Town and Brownville Junction; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Wilson of Houlton; a brother, Clarence E. Fanjoy of Woburn, Mass.; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Crosby Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Philip Mather of the First Baptist church officiating. Military services were held at the graveside under the direction of Poulliot Seavey Post, American Legion.
