Roswell J. Cleveland Roswell J. Cleveland died very suddenly at Hermon January 27, 1945 after a lifetime of devotion and service to his family and friends. He leaves a daughter, Mildred, wife of John H. Jameson of Bangor; a son, Lewis R. of Dexter; a sister, Mrs. Edith P. Perry of Hermon, with whom he had been spending the winter and caring for her in illness. A half brother, Edward L. Cleveland of Great Falls, Mont.; also three grandsons, Errol R. Cleveland, John H. Jameson all of Bangor, several nephews and nieces. He was born in Exeter, Me., April 25, 1874, the son of Edwin and Melvina Rich Cleveland and lived there until 18 years ago when he movedto the Damascus section of Carmel. He was a very successful farmer and poultry man, a writer of beautiful poems, which shows the depth of man, a great lover of nature. He was a member of the Baptist church of Exeter and a valued member of the Grange. He leaves a large circle of friends who mourn his passing. Funeral services were held from the home of his, daughter, Mrs. John H. Jameson. The flowers were many and beautiful. The bearers were Benjamin Bradford, Charles Small, Linwood Straw and Francis W. Jameson. The remains were entombed at Mt. Hope cemetery and will be taken to'Exeter Center cemetery in the spring.
