S-SGT. KENNETH DAVIS KILLED IN ACTION S/Sgt. Kenneth F. Davis. who has previouly been reported missing in action in Germany since November 29, has been killed in action in Belgium according to the latest word received from the War Department by his wife Mrs. Muriel Briggs Davis. Sgt. Davis took part in some of the hardest fighting in the European area. He saw action in the African and Sicilian campaigns and was wounded in Sicily in August 1943. He also participated in the D-Day invasion of France, continuing into Belgium and when last heard from into Germany. He was a member of Company E, Sixth U. S. Infantry Regiment of the U. S. First Army. He had been awarded the Purple Heart and the Silver Star for gallantry in action. Previous to his entering the Army he was employed on the farm of Mrs. Percival in Corinna. Kenneth Davis was born in Dexter January 11, 1919 the son of Frank and the late Edna Bowden Davis, and was a young man of high character. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Muriel B. Davis, who is employed at the Blaine Mansion in Augusta; his father, Frank Davis of Skowhegan and three sisters Mrs. Frank Leo of Corinna, Miss Marion and Miss Pauline Davis of Dover-Foxcroft. note: photo accompanied article
