Obituary	CHARLES SAWTELLE Charles Bennett Sawtelle, 78, died last Wednesday at a Pittsfield nursing home following a long illness. He was born in Guilford, March 6, 1889, son of Francis and Ada (Bennett) Sawtelle and was educated in the schools of Guilford and Dexter. Following graduation from Dexter High School he went to work for the Great Northern Paper Co.; he was married to the former Ursula B. Knowles, and they settled in Corinna, where he worked at the Kenwood Woolen Mill, the Fay-Scott Machine Shop in Dexter, and the Snowflake Canning Co., retiring in 1965. He attended the Methodist Church and was a former member of the Dexter National Guard. He was past master of Parian Masonic Lodge, past patron of Corinna Chapter, 0.E.S., and a former member of Lone Eagle Lodge, I.O.O.F. Survivors include a son, W. Archie Sawtelle of Corinna; a foster daughter, Mrs. Betty Rich of Detroit; a grandson, Charles Lee Sawtelle of the U. S. Navy; a granddaughter, Jacqueline Ann Sawtelle of Corinna; a brother, Clifford,Sawtelle Sr. of Corinna; a sister, Mrs. Marian White of York Beach; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Corinna Methodist Church, with the Rev. David W. McLean, pastor, officiating. Public Masonic Memorial services were conducted by the members of Parian Lodge at the Farnham Funeral Home in Corinna Friday. Burial will be in the Corinna Center tomb.
