Obituary	ELMER L. KATEN Elmer L. Katen, 77, died early Sunday morning at a Pittsfield hospital after a short illness. He was born in Guilford, March 26, 1889, the son of Willard and Flora (Gee) Katen. Katen was educated in Dexter schools and worked in Abbott Woolen Mills there. He was married to the former Josephine Morgridge who died in 1965. Katen had lived in Dover-Foxcroft, Lisbon Falls, Trenton and Portland. He had lived in Newport since 1959. Katen attended the Universalist Churches, was past master of Mosaic Lodge No. 52; past patron of Merian Chapter, OES, Dover; a past associate patron and member of Nokomis Chapter, OES of Newport and a former Dexter Grange member. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Audrey Page of Dexter; two grandchildren, Gerrie and Steven Page, both of Dexter and several cousins. Funeral services were held at the Farnham Funeral Home Tuesday with the Rev. John FJ McNally of the First Universalist Church of Dexter, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
