Obituary
E. HOMER WILBUR E. Homer Wilbur, 79, died last Wednesday at the Plummer Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Otis Aug. 26, 1887, the son of Leslie and Annie (Kingman) Wilbur. Wilbur came to Dexter 46 years ago and for many years operated a farm and at the same time did ice cutting for area farmers. From 1941 he was employed as a machinist at the Fayscott Landis until two years ago when he retired. He was active in the Grange having been a 65 year member. He belonged to Dexter Grange, the State and National Grange, was a member of Penobscot Lodge of Masons of Dexter and First Baptist Church. He was an active participant in civic affairs. Survivors include his wife, Edith (Crawford) Wilbur; one son, Dana H. of Dexter; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Carter of Dexter, Mrs. Barbara Crawford of Beverly, Mass., and Mrs. Beatrice Hanson of Fairfield; one brother, Melvin L. of Ellsworth; a half-sister, Mrs. Ernest Hazeltine of Zephyrhills, Florida; 12 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church Saturday with the Rev. Philip Mather officiating. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
