Obituary
Death Takes Lawrence Bailey Lawrence A. Bailey, 69, died Tuesday at a Bangor hospital after a long illness. He was born at Cambridge, May 14, 1897, the son of Albert M. and Edna (Ham) Bailey. Bailey was educated in Cambridge elementary schools before moving to Dexter in 1914 where he entered high school. He had been in the wholesale gas business since 1920 and had operated an auto oil and gas business since the fall of 1938. Previously, Bailey had operated a saw mill and lumber business with his father, along with a store and grainery at Harmony. He had operated the B & H Transportation Co. since it was formed. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Mrs. Ada (Brown) Bailey; one son, Chester; one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Brunk, all of Dexter; two sisters, Mrs. Luetta Batey of Dexter and Mrs. Raymond Downs of Bangor; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Crosby Funeral Home in Dexter Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Philip Mather of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Cambridge. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
