Obituary
WAYLAND L. BENNETT Wayland L. Bennett, 72, of Blanchard Road, died at his home in Cumberland, Oct. 6. He was born in Dexter, Oct. 13, 1893, son of Joseph and Ida, Davenport Bennett He was educated in Dexter schools and had lived in Portland many years before moving to Cumberland in 1939. A retired conductor for the Maine Central Railroad, he was a member of the Waterville Lodge, Scottish Rite, Portland Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, a former member of Wescustogo Grange, North Yarmouth, a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his wife, Mariam L. Bennett; three brothers, Waldo D. Bennett, Albany, N. Y., Wilson C. Bennett, Garland, and Everett J. Bennett, Dexter; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Welch, Cumberland, and Mrs. Pauline Hamner, Saranac Lake, N. Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday at 37 Portland St., Yarmouth, with the Rev. Valton V. Morse, pastor of the Cumberland Congregational Church officiating. Interment was in Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland.
