Obituary	Virgil Crockett Virgil Crockett died Sunday at the Sisters' Hospital in Waterville where he had been a patient for several weeks. He was born in Abbot eighty-eight years ago, the son of Columbus and Deborah Crockett, but was a resident of Dexter the greater part of his life time. He was a tinsmith by trade, but being a lover of music he spent much time at the piano and he Was well known for his musical ability. For many years he was associated with the late David Cram, local violinist and as "Cram and Crockett' furnished music for many dances and en- tertainments in this section of the state. While R. 0. Brewster of this town was serving as Governor of Maine they were invited to play at a party held at the Blaine Mansion in Augusta. Mr. Crockett was also custodian of the town clock for a number of years until being obliged to give up the work last November because of poor health. He was deeply interested in Odd Fellowship and for years served the lodge faithfully as musician. He was a Past Grand of Plymouth lodge, I. 0. 0. 0. F. a Past Chief Patriarch of Silver Lake Encampment, a member of Canton Dexter, Patriarch's Militant and of Martha Washington Rebekah lodge. He was also a loyal member of the Townsend Club and attended the Universalist church. Mr. Crockett was unmarried. He leaves a brother, Preston, of Wayne, Nebraska; seven nieces and two nephews. Funeral services were held at the First Universalist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Gordon C. Reardon officiating. Memorial services were also conducted by the officers of Plymouth lodge. Odd Fellows and Rebekahs attended the services in a body. Active bearers were Harry Wilkins, Charles Chandler, Charles Wade, and Rexford Slater. Honorary bearers were Arthur Reed, Arthur W. Stone, Charles Stone, Manville Russell, George F. Huff, and Charles H. Wyman. Interment will be in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
