Obituary
ALBERT E. SAWYER Funeral services were held Tuesday at the home of Albert (Bert) E. Sawyer, 81, who died Saturday afternoon following a brief illness. The Rev. Gordon Parlin officiated. Sawyer was born at Ripley April 16, 1885 the son of Albert and Irene (Smith) Sawyer. He moved to Dexter 57 years ago and worked as a weaver at the Former Morrison Woolen Mill and later became foreman of the Weave Room. When the mill closed, he went to Sunapee, N. H. where he was superintendent of a woolen mill there; he then went to Auburn, Mass. to become superintendent of the Pondville Mill, and later returned to Dexter where he was occupied in farming until his retirement. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Auburn, Mass. Survivors in addition to his wife Annie of Dexter include one daughter, Mrs. Eunice Gould, of Dexter; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Clark of Stockholm and Mrs. Nellie Hight of Dexter; one brother, Edward of Newport; two grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Burial was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
