ANDREW CUSHMAN WINSLOW Andrew Cushman Winslow, son of Samuel and Susannah (Stevens) Winslow was born in the old Winslow Tavern in that part of Westbrook called Blackstrap, on January 18, 1808. He married on June 9, 1829 Harriet Abigail Noble daughter of John. They came to Dexter with their two children about 1838 and built the house on Spring Street where they lived the remainder of their days, and where six more children were born. Of their eight children, George, Arivesta, Susan, and Olive never married. Averick married Royal Whitcomb, and Sarah married Enoch B. Hill but left no children. Charles married Jennie Jordan and both were in business for many years on Main street. They had one daughter, Helen, who married Charles Potter and left one son, George Potter. Harriet Abby, married Edward Hanscom and left two cbildren. Dean Winslow Hanscom and Beatrice, who married Arthur Herbert. Andrew Winslow was a blacksmith by trade. He and his family attended the Universalist church. He was a brother of Eli Winslow of Dexter and Nathaniel Winslow of Pittsfield. He was a member of the Dexter Rifle Company and in 1839 took part in the Aroostook War, going with the Company to Fort Fairfield. Note: date and place of death not given
