Obituary	MRS. CORNELIA (CURTIS) JONES One well loved teacher in the upper primary school was Mrs. Cornelia J. Jones. She was born in Parkman on August 19, 1840, the daughter of Abel and Eliza (Pitcher) Curtis. She married E. Howard Jones, who carried on a market in Dexter for many years. They had two children, Selden H., who died in his fourth year and Annie Mae, who married Harry A. McKusick. The school report of 1875 says of Mrs. Jones: "This teacher has shown very good results from her teaching the past two terms, and it was very noticeable in the class she had prepared for examination at the close of the winter term to go from her school to the Grammar school." Mrs. Jones knew how to teach fractions and the drill she gave that class in common fractions made their first year in grammar school easy, and indeed helped them throughout their lives. Mrs. Jones died in Dexter, September 27, 1896.
