FRANCIS D. WINTLE Funeral services were held, Wednesday morning at St. Anne's Catholic Church for Francis Douglas Wintle, 38, husband of Freda (Green) Wintle, who died suddenly Monday morning. The Rev. Gaston Auger officiated. Military services were held by the American Legion Post at the grave at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Third degree members of the Knights of Columbus said the Rosary at the funeral home Tuesday evening, and later the same evening the fourth degree members did the same. He was born at Dexter, Feb. l8, 1927, son of Charles and Marion (Clukey) Wintle. He received his education in the local schools, then served for 19 months with the U.S. Army in World War II, eight months being overseas. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, a fourth degree member of Cardinal Mercier Council Knights of Columbus; a member of Poulliot-Seavey Post 53, American Legion. For the past 14 years he had been associated with R.C. Whitney and Sons of Dexter as an oil burner service man. Survivors are his widow; a son, Stephen Douglas, 10; his mother, all of Dexter; six brothers; Victor of Bangor, Kenneth of Charleston, James, Frederick, Robert and Roger, all of Dexter; four sisters, Mrs. Bernice Chambers of Dover-Foxcroft, Mrs. Evelyn Walker of Bangor, Mrs. Madelyn Bush of Dexter and Mrs. Rebecca Parkman of Covina, Calif., several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
