Obituary
ELLA J. MOWER Ella J. Mower was the daughter of Aaron Fletcher Mower and his wife, Ann Parker (Mower) Mower. She was born in Dexter, September 6, 1853, and she died there July 31, 1932. The family lived for many years on a farm, on the North Dexter road. Mr. Mower later built a house on High street in Dexter Village and the farm was carried on by his son, Parker. Ella Mower was a teacher in the Dexter schools for a good many years. The first mention we found of her was in the school report of 1875 when she appears as teacher in District No. 8. "A small school but well instructed and advancement good." She had probably been teaching for several years. In 1878 Miss Mower was in District No. 7, where she "Sustained her former reputation as a very successful teacher." Miss Mower was teacher for the Grammar school for a short time but she served in the Upper Intermediate for a good many years until her health made it necessary for her to give up her chosen calling.
