Obituary
WALTER F. ROBERTS Walter Forest Roberts, 70, died June 24 at the Togus Veterans Administration Center Hospital where he had been a patient for three months. Born at Farmingdale June 30, 1892, he was the son of Henry D. and Edith Richardson Roberts. A World War I veteran and a member of Co. M, 103rd Infantry, Yankee Division, he served over- seas from April 1917 to April of 1919. He became a certified watchmaker, serving his apprenticeship in Gardiner in 1922. He left Gardiner for Pittsfield in 1925, where he lived 15 years. He later moved to Dexter where for 16 years he was associated with the Fayscott Machine Co. He was a charter member of the Benjamin E. Smith Post, American Legion, of Gardiner, was a past commander of the Pittsfield American Legion Post and a member of Employees Association. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Geneva Burgess Roberts; a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Roberts Naiman; a brother, Carroll A.; and a grandson, Frank Roberts Naiman, all of Augusta; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gardiner.
