MARK S. ROBERTS, JR. Funeral services were held this afternoon, Thursday, May 2, at the Staples Funeral Home at Gardiner for Mark S. Roberts, Jr., 53, a vice-president and director of public relations of the Depositors Trust Company, Gardiner. Mr. Roberts died Monday at a Boston hospital after an illness of three weeks. He was born at Gardiner, April, 12, 1910, son of the late Mark S. Roberts, Sr. and Flossie (Lawrence) Roberts. At the age of one year he moved to Dexter with his parents. He was graduated from Dexter High School in 1927 and from the Maine School of Commerce at Auburn in 1929. Following graduation, he joined the bank staff at Gardiner and later the bank was acquired by the Depositors Trust Company. He had been with the firm since 1934, and for a long period of years served as manager of the Gardiner branch. At the time of his death, he was a vice-president and public relations director of the bank with the main office at Augusta. He was a member of the Gardiner Methodist Church, and had been active in civic affairs and organizations at Gardiner. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Eleanor (Leighton) Roberts of Gardiner; a daughter, Mrs. Dianne Nickel of Lewiston; two sons, Mark G. of Memphis, Tenn., and Lawrence D. of the U. S. Navy stationed in Morocco; two brothers, Dana L. of Lancaster, N. H., and Howard A. Roberts, Portland, Ore.; his stepmother, Mrs. Helen Roberts of Dexter; five grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
