Obituary
HAROLD W. COVEL Harold Wilber Covel, 68, died at his residence in East Newport last Thursday morning after a short illness. Born in Dexter, Jan. 17, 1894, he was the son of Wilbur and Fannie Sturtevant Covel. He was educated in the schools of Dexter and was an agent for the railroad express company there. He married Gladys Martin in 1936 and settled in Corinna. He was a percher for the Moosehead Woolen Co. at Burnham. He came to Newport in 1942 and worked on a mail route. He retired in 1956. He was a member of the Dexter Universalist Church, the Dexter Fire Department and the Dexter Grange. He was a former Modern Woodman. He is survived by seven children, Arthur Covel of Dexter, Miss Dorothea Covel of Worcester, Mrs. Roberta Pratt of Bangor, Donald Covel of Northboro, Mass., Mrs. Maxine C. Whiting of Winslow, Mrs. Evelyn L. Pearl of Farmingdale and Mrs. Evelyn S. Safford of Boothbay Harbor; 14 grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Abbie Nutter of Dexter, Mrs. Mildred Jose of Dexter and Mrs. Berta Fernald of East Corinth; one brother, Earl Covel of Kittery; three nieces, three nephews and several cousins. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Farnham Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. John E. Parr, pastor of the High Street Congregational Church; officiating. Entombment will be in Oaks Memorial Tomb.
