MRS. GLEN C. AYER Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Oct. 22, at the Crosby Funeral Home at Dexter for Mrs. Helen (Rayner) Ayer, 62, widow of Glen C. Ayer, who died unexpectedly Friday morning at her home on Zion's Hill after a period of failing health. The Rev. Gordon F. Parlin of the Dexter Methodist Church officiated. Honorary bearers were W. Marvin Salisbury, Wendell Higgins, Harold E. Hatch and Norman Hatch, all of Dexter. Interment was in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. She was born at Dexter, Sept. 15, 1900, daughter of James Herbert and Lou A. Rayner. A lifelong resident of this town, she was graduated from Dexter High School and Nasson Institute (College) at Springfield. For a number of years, Mrs. Ayer was the local reporter for the Bangor Daily News. She was a member of the First Universalist Church, a past president of the Dexter Woman's Literary Club, and a past president of the Dexter Garden Club when that organization was functioning. Besides her mother, Mrs. Rayner, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jane (Ayer) Bentley of Detroit, Mich., and three grandchildren.
