Obituary
THE REV. GLADYS F. BURKE Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 1, at the Crosby Funeral Home at Dexter for the Rev. Gladys F. Burke 70, who died Friday at the Plummer Memorial Hospital, Dexter, after a long illness. Dr. Elmer Bentley, secretary of the Maine Baptist Convention of Augusta; the Rev. Archibald Pray of Bangor, field secretary of the Convention; and the Rev. Walter B. Wakeman of the First Baptist Church, Dexter, officiated. Burial was in the Trask Lawn Cemetery, Jefferson. She was born at Melrose, Mass., Nov. 7, 1891, daughter of P. William and Amelia (Lufkin) Firth. She was a graduate of East Boston High School and the Massachusetts Normal Arts School. She held Baptist pastorates at Princeton and Parkman prior to coming to Dexter about five years ago. Survivors are two sons, Francis Burke of Jefferson and Warren Burke of Miami, Fla.; two brothers, Victor Firth of Melrose and Ralph Firth of Everett, Mass.; a sister, Mrs. Mable Solomon of Boston; and a grandson.
