Obituary	JAMES M. ORDWAY James Millard Ordway, Wilton town manager, 60, died suddenly at the home of a friend in Cambridge Sept. 4, after being taken ill while going to Wilton following a week-end at his home in Sangerville. Funeral services were held Thursday at the United Church with the Rev. Perley O'Dell of Portland officiating. Burial was in the Jackman Corner cemetery. Born in Sangerville Aug. 13, 1901, he was the son of George J. and Ida (Pierce) Ordway. He married Miss Thelma Austin of Parkman. He was a resident of Sangerville during his earlier years, and always maintained his home here. Mr. Ordway served as a selectman in Sangerville and was also town manager for several years, later in Brownville and then for 11 years in Wilton. He was vice-president of the Maine Managers' Association, and a member of the Water Improvement Commission, the Maine Good Roads Association, the American Public Works Association, the Maine Weed and Brush Control, the Maine Municipal Tax Association, Wilton Fish and Game Association, the Western Maine town and City Managers' Association and the International City Managers Association. Mr. Ordway was a member of Abner Wade lodge, F. & A. M., and Susie Carr Chapter, O. E. S., in Sangerville; also of the Shrine, Kora Temple, in Lewiston; president of Franklin County Shriners Club and a member of the Pilgrim Commandery, Farmington. He was a Potentate's Ambassador. He was prominent in the Shrine Hospital activities. He belonged to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Wilton. He was a member and Past master and Past Deputy of Pomona. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Thelma Ordway; by two daughers, Mrs. Merle Howard, Jr., of Bangor, and Mrs. Lloyd Hall, Jr., of Guilford; by a son, Millard of Sangerville; by six grandchildren; by a sister, Mrs. Alice Colbry, Sangerville; by a half-sister, Mrs. Mertie Starbird of Dexter; by a half-brother, David Thomes, Dover-Foxcroft; by an uncle, nieces and nephews.
