DR. CHARLES L. RYAN Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Universalist Church of Dexter for Dr. Charles Loring Ryan, 77, well-known veterinarian, who died Sunday at the Plummer Memorial Hospital after a short illness. The Rev. E. King Hempel officiated. Sixteen members of the Dexter Club attended in a body and acted as active and honorary bearers. Remains were entombed. Burial is to be in the family lot at. Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter next spring. A lifelong resident of Dexter, he was born here November 28, 1883, son of George C. and Emma (Hatch) Ryan. Following his graduation from Dexter High School, he attended the University of Maine. Later, he was graduated from the University of Toronto Veterinarian College and began his practise in Dexter in 1912, serving this town and many of the adjacent areas. He was active in the Maine Veterinarians' Association, was one of the oldest members of the Dexter Club, and a veteran of World War One. His first wife, Agnes Chisholm, died many years ago. He is survived by his widow, Janet (Brown) Ryan and one sister, Mrs. Angie Moore, of Corinna.
