ASHER SPRAGUE KNEELAND Funeral services for Asher Sprague Kneeland, 60, of Vanceboro, Me. were held at the Vanceboro Methodist Church on Sept. 17 with the Rev. Lance Bird officiating. Special services were also conducted by Lewey's Island Lodge, F. and A. M., of Princeton, of which he was a member. Interment was in the Vanceboro cemetery. Kneeland, who died Sept. 14 at the Calais hospital, was born at Princeton, April 20, 1900, son of Charles T. and Sarah (Fogg) Kneeland. He graduated from Princeton High School and attended the University of Maine. He served in the U. S. Army during World War I. Kneeland had been employed by the U. S. Immigration Service for the past 33 years, stationed at Vanceboro for the past 18 years. Besides being a member of the Princeton Masonic Lodge he was a member of the Royal Chapter of the Eastern Star of Princeton, a past commander of F. S. Mills American Legion Post of Vanceboro, and attended the Vanceboro Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. M. Katherine (McLaughlin) Kneeland of Vanceboro; three sons, Asher S. Jr., of Dexter and Greenville; Jack T. of Ellsworth and Donald L. of Vanceboro; a daughter, Miss Ann S. Knedand of Vanceboro; two brothers, Omar A. Kneeland of Arlington, Va., and N. W. Kneeland of New York City, N. Y.; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Bartlett Funeral Home of Danforth.
