Obituary
J. Chester Farrar J. Chester Farrar of Ripley died Monday afternoon August 14, at the Eastern Maine General hospital in Bangor following a serious surgical operation. Mr. Farrar was the son of the late Edward and Abrigal Raymond Farrar and was born in Ripley March 18,1903. He had been a resident of Ripley all his life and was prominent in community affairs. He served on the board of selectmen for a number of years and at the time of his death was Steward of Ripley Grange. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Stone Farrar; a daughter, Virginia L.; a son, Rodney C.; two sisters, Vesta M. Wakefield of Ripley, and Lina F. Butler of Bath; two brothers, Ivan R Farrar of Dexter and E. Ravmond Farrar of Ripley also by several nephews and -nieces. Funeral services were held at his late home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. T. Ernest Smith of Hartland officiating and under the direction of Elwin Crosby. The bearers were James Laughton, Charles Sevey, John Sevey, Hiram Bane, Garnett Bubur, and Douglas Britten. Interment was at West Ripley Cemetarry. The floral tributes were many and beautiful showing the high esteem in which he was held.
