Death Takes Mrs. N. F. Plouff Mrs. Norman Fay Plouff, well-known Dexter clubwoman and a past president of the Maine Federation of Women's Clubs, died Wednesday afternoon, July 6, at the Plummer Hospital in Dexter after a long period of failing health. Friends may call at the residence on Free st. Thursday evening. Funeral services will be conducted at the Dexter Methodist Church at 2 p. m. Friday. The Rev. Howard E. Benson of Kittery former pastor of the church, and the Rev. Herman Grove, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Mrs. Plouff was born at Barton, Vt., July 16, 1906, the daughter of Samuel M. Hulbert and Anna Maria (Truscott) Hulbert. She was graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, Vt., in 1924; from N. H. State Teachers' College in 1926; and continued her education at Clark University, Worcester Mass. Until 1937, she was a teacher engaged in experimental and demonstration work for Boston University at John Ward School, Newton, Mass. She was married to Norman Fay PIouff on Nov. 10, 1933. Prominent throughout the state for her interest and activities in the Maine Federation of Women's Clubs and as a member of committees of the General Federation, she served as president of the MFWC in 1955. Prior to that she was first vice-president of the federation in '51; second vice-president, '49; and treasurer in '47. Director of Dist, 2, MFWC., chairman of the Educational Loan Fund in '55, treasurer of the Fund in '59, and chairman of the division of Civil Defense were her other activities in the Maine Federation. Committees of the General Federation on which she had served for one or more years were the Elections and Policy committees. Mrs. PIouff was a past president of the Dexter Woman's Literary Club and Onaway Literary Union; a past regent of Rebecca Weston Chapt., Daughters of the American Revolution; and had served on the Revisions committee of the State Society, D. A. R. She bad also served as chairman of the Governor's committee on Mental Institutions; on Governor's committee on Highway Safety; and as a delegate to the Legislative Council. In 1958, Mrs. Plouff was Dexter membership chairman of the Sunshine Club for Crippled Children; and has served on the board of the Dexter Public Health Assoc., Inc. At the time of her death she was a trustee of the Maine Educational T. V. Assoc., was second vice-president off E. T. V., was a director of the Maine Heart Assoc., a member of Education Committee, Maine Heart Assoc., member of Finance committee of Dexter Methodist Church and Lay Leader. Besides her husband, she is survived by her father, Samuel M. Hulbert of Worcester, Mass., five brothers, Chauncy S. of Fitchburg, Mass., John T. of Island Falls, Me., Calvin M. of Worcester, Donald S of Twin Falls Idaho, and Clifton H. of Worcester.
