MRS. MAUDE SMITH Mrs. Maude Smith, 83, widow William Smith, died at a Dexter hospital Sunday following a long period of failing health. She was born at Exeter, February 10, 1877, the daughter of Edward and Ellen (Wentworth) Melvin. Mrs. Smith had lived in Troy for 35 years and had taught school in Exeter before and after marriage. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Cleveland of Dexter and Mrs. Thelma Sincerbox of Brunswick; one son, William of Troy; one grandson and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services were held at the Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter, Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. E. King Hempel of the First Universalist Church of Dexter officiating. Burial was in Center Cemetery in Exeter. Bearers were: William Errol Smith of Troy, Paul Sincerbox of Brunswick, Lewis Cleveland of Dexter and Errol Cleveland of Bangor.
