MRS. EMMA B. SMART Mrs. Emma B. Smart, 86, died at her home on Pleasant ave., Sangerville, Tuesday morning after a long period of ill health. Funeral services were to be held this (Thurs.) afternoon at Harvey's Funeral Home, Guilford, with the Rev. Stanley McKay Gardiner, pastor at Brownville Jct. and Milo, officiating. Burial will be in the Pingree Center Cemetery, Parkman. Mrs. Smart was born in Brighton, March 28, 1874, the daughter of Columbus and Ellen (Morrison) Hayden. Her girlhood was spent in Brighton and Exeter. She was married twice, her first husband being Edward Buxton of Exeter. Her second husband was Eliphalet Smart of Parkman where they maintained a tourist home. After his death, Mrs. Smart moved To Sangerville where she conducted a Nursing Home, till she fell breaking her hip five years ago. The home has since been maintained as a Rest Home with a limited number of patients. Mrs. Smart was a member of the Episcopalian Church of England at Brownville Jct. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Leavitt of Dexter and Mrs. Maude Dorr of Guilford; by a brother, Budd Hayden of Parkman; by a step-daughter, Mrs. Lucy Bickford of Parkman; by six step-grandchildren.
