Obituary
MRS. INEZ MAY MERRILL Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Crosby Funeral Home in Dexter for Mrs. Inez May Merrill, 74, widow of Ira Merrill, who died early Sunday morning at the Plummer Hospital after a short illness. The Rev. Walter B. Wakeman of the First Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Bearers were Harry Merrill, Harold Cousins, K. Stanford Blake and Edward Clifford, all of Dexter. A life-long resident of Dexter, she was born here January 15, 1885, the daughter of Joseph and Nellie (Carr) King. She attended the Free Baptist Church. She is survived by several cousins. Mrs. Merrill, who lived alone in her home on King st., off Lower Free st., was found ill early Saturday evening by Chief of Police Harold B. Knox, accompanied by Dr. H. Lewis Taylor, who was called by neighbors. When Harry Merrill, brother-in-law of the deceased, noticed that her milk which was delivered earlier Saturday had not been taken in, he and other neighbors went to the house and found all doors locked. Through a window they could see Mrs. Merrill lying on her bed. Chief Knox, on arrival, removed a storm window to gain entrance and Dr. Taylor had the ill woman taken by ambulance to the Plummer Memorial Hospital where she died early Sunday morning.
