JAMES 0. SEAVEY Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon by the Rev. Herman Grove of the Dexter Methodist Church at the Crosby Funeral Home for James 0. Seavey, 83, who died suddenly Saturday morning at the Plummer Hospital. The Masonic service was conducted by fellow-lodge members. Bearers were the four sons of the deceased, who are all Masons, and acted in that capacity at their father's request. Interment was in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Mr. Seavey was born in Exeter, Aug. 6, 1875, son of Calvin and Margaret (Hurd) Seavey. A resident of Dexter for many years, he was a member of Penobscot Lodge, A. F. & A. M., Plymouth Lodge, I. 0. 0. F., the Three-Quarter Century Club, and a former member of Canton Dexter, Patriarchs Militant. He attended the Methodist Church. A retired millwright, Mr. Seavey was first employed at the Fay and Scott Machine Company during his first years in town, and later by the several mills in Dexter. Prior to moving to Dexter 40 years ago he was engaged in farming at Exeter. He and his wife, the former Lottie Howard, would have observed their 60th wedding anniversary in September. Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Amber Hutchins, Mrs. Leona Brawn, Mrs. Myrtle Knowles, all of Dexter, and Mrs. Barbara Sanders of Canaan; four sons, Howard of Newport, Leon of Berwick, Calvin of Corinna, and William of Hadley Falls, Mass., 26 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
