Services Friday For John Eaton John Earle Eaton, 49, of Dexter, a town police officer for a total of seven years, died Wednesday morning at the Plummer Memorial Hospital in Dexter after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at the Crosby Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2 p. m. The Rev. Howard Benson of the Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call at the Crosby Funeral Home today, Thursday. Downtown Dexter stores and firms will be closed from 2 to 3 p. m. Friday for the Eaton funeral; the Dexter Town Office will be closed all afternoon. John Eaton was born in Hancock, Maine, June 7, 1909, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Eaton. Besides being a member of the two-man Dexter Police Department he belonged to many organizations, the Eastern Maine Air Association, the Law Enforcement Association, Dexter Fish and Game Association, the Insurance Commissioners' Electricians Board, National Association of Power Engineers and the Masonic Lodge. He was also a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol. Surviving are his two daughters, Joan and Linda Eaton, his step-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Seaway of Lake Worth, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Frank Foster of Mechanic Falls, and several aunts and uncles. note: photo accompanies article
