Obituary
MAURICE J. PROVOST A Requiem High Mass was held at St. Anne's Catholic Church Tuesday morning for Maurice J. Provost, 65, who died suddenly Saturday at his home on the Charleston road. The Rev. J. P. Sevigny officiated. Bearers were: Roland Cleaves, Bangor, Paul Cleaves of Lewiston, Omer, Gabriel, Gerald and Philip Cleaves, all of Dexter. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Mr. Provost, a well-known house painter, was born at St. Joseph, Canada, Jan. 27, 1894, son of Joseph and Sara (Poirier) Provost. He came here about 42 years ago and had been employed in Dexter mills. He was a veteran of World War I in the Canadian Army. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; five sons, Maurice, Jr., Roy, Shirley, Clifford and Richard, all of Dexter; three daughters, Mrs. Gloria Ramsdell, Mrs. Marlene Richard, and Mrs. Ramona Gordon, all of Dexter; three brothers, Philip of Orrington, Ovid of Hartford, Conn., and Edward of Sherbrooke, P. Q., four sisters, Mrs. Corinne Rabideau, Mrs. Anna Arguin, Mrs. Violet Cleaves, all of Dexter, and Mrs. Rose Cote of Lewiston; 12 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Among relatives from out-of-town at the service were: Mr. and Mrs. Philip Provost, Orrington; Edward Provost, Sherbrooke, P. Q., Mrs. Donald Cote, Lillian and Rita, Lewiston; Mrs. Nazier Clukey, Guilford; Henry Cleaves, Winooski, Vt., Mrs. Ethel Croft, Malden, Mass., and Mrs. Dorothy Budvits of Boston.
